On Saturday 4/14/ 2012 62 riders and numerous members and guest spectators came together at Hunting Ridge farm in Free Union,VA for the inaugural Spring Hunter Trials sponsored by the Farmington Hunt Club.A great group of students, foxhunters, juniors and senior riders from the neighboring farms competed in 7 field hunter classes. W.Pat Butterfield and Tom Bishop from the Farmington Hunt judged the event organized by Liz King and Emily Bassett at the private farm of one of our kind landowners  Karl Pfefferkorn and Katharine Birdsall who allowed us the use of their beautiful property for the day. The course was laid out in a large field with 11 temporary jumps created to simulate jumps and obstacles typically found in the hunt field: logs, rails, coops, and straw bales. Foxhunters were put to the test over the gently rolling field with a stunning backdrop of mountains near the Ridge Road and the Moorman's River in Albemarle County. This well attended event is sure to become a local favorite for both foxhunters and riders who all seemed to have a fantastic time. Here are the results:

Bellair Farm CSA is located on historic Bellair Farm, 900 beautiful acres just south of Charlottesville, Va. Our goal is to connect our member families to the land, their food and their farmer. We grow 50 different types of veggies in addition to some fruit and flowers all under strict adherence to the organic standards. In addition to picking up their weekly share at the farm or the 2 weekday markets, our members are welcome to enjoy the acre+ of Pick-Your-Own crops, our annual farm festivals and our Saturday workshops designed to educate the community about sustainable agriculture. For the 2012 season we will be cultivating over 20 acres of land so we'll have plenty of volunteer opportunities available for groups or individuals who want to get their hands dirty and learn about sustainable agriculture. Call us at 434-262-9021 to learn more or to sign up for our CSA!
